Different

With tears in her gleaming eyes

Fatigue on her youthful face

The free tresses tied up

The eternal smile concealed by a mask

Young Sarah, walked at a slower pace

She was lost, spoke to none, felt that she wasn’t made for the worldly race

Tears rolled down her eyes whenever she prayed

Her soul questioned the creator, for he had made her different

She wanted to escape this big world

She wanted to create her own little, merry world

Where she would lovingly embrace her mother for eternity

Where the sun would give warmth and tranquility

It was another day when she felt different

Different from the devious souls who resided in the world around

Wet eyes gave a peek into her past and the future

Yet the radiant smile was always ready to endure

The sun shone bright upon her lustrous brown locks

The warmth ignited the ever still rocks

Appeared an entity bedecked by the sunshine

Her face had a fearless, pure glow, and she was kind

Sarah went rushing toward her

Wept and embraced her

“I want to be like you. Why am I so different?

Am I not made for this world?

They say that my little world

Is just an imaginary abode

Is it so?

Why can’t all of us marvelously glow?

They speak words that entangle my innocent soul

They look at me and say that I too, like them, shall fall

Even if I fall, I want to rise

I promise that my deeds shall leave them mesmerized.”

cried the eighteen year old Sarah

“I shall embrace you for you shine like the morning dew

You are different and that’s how beautifully the creator made you

Through the sunshine and the rains

Through the peaks and the valleys

You made it through all that intimidates

Yes, you are different, you are away from everything that seems plastic

Hold your head high my child

In me, you can confide

Look into their eyes

Smile, for you shall always rise.”

said she

“They say that my heart is fragile

The world is too big a place for me to beguile

They say that hearts harden

As they become deceit laden

Will my heart also harden?

Can you make me hard as a rock

To prosper in this world?”

wept Sarah

“Your heart, I see is an unchained entity

That will slowly unleash the chained yet ignited souls with serenity

Look around and you shall always see someone smile

You are fearless and that’s how you’ll bloom even along an unlit aisle

You are my child, and I, your mother

In this wide world, by me, you shall be embowered.”
